The FTC team is made up of learned individuals who contribute their minds and efforts to the creation of a robot made of prefabricated parts to compete in a complicated environment and perform intricate and explicit tasks. The game for 2010-2011 is aptly named get over it. The game is based off of a robot that was built by a college which efficiently crosses all sorts of terrain and weather conditions. Get Over It is this year’s game. It comprises of various mountains and slopes all made up of various pieces. The point of the game is to retrieve batons from dispensers on the side of the field and transport them to two types of goals: a mobile and non-mobile goal. Various other point distributions exist for robots that can balance themselves and other robots and mobile goals on the seemingly unbalanced terrain in the field. Another aspect of the game is the autonomous mode. This exists at the beginning of the game and the point of it is to allow the robot to operate by itself without a controller. If the robot gets to the other side of the field or even scores, numerous points are added to the player’s score. All FTC games are made up of alliances. Each alliance is a pair of teams. The tricky part is that if a team is part of your alliance in one game, they may be on an opposing alliance in the next game. The parts of the FTC team are the build team and notebook team. As it name states, the build team does most of the building. The notebook team also builds, but they have the additional task of recording all the things that happen in the meetings and taking pictures, which record the progress the team is making on the robot and their strategy for each respective game. Overall, the FTC team is a well functioning team that has a great task every year.
