The Circuitrunners Robotics team annually hosts several events to help the younger elementary and middle-school students with their own robotics competition: FLL, or FIRST Lego League. .
Every year, the Circuitrunners hosts a regional qualifier, in which around 30 local teams compete to go to the Georgia Superregional. It also serves as one of our main Outreach events. During this event, individual Circuitrunners volunteer and serve multiple posts, such as Referees, Teamwork Judges, Presentation Judges, Concessions, Queuing, etc.
We also host multiple workshops every year to help local teams get up to speed in the competition. There we assist them in the learning process of constructing a winning robot, controlling the robot's actions through programming, and the basics of that year's game. About two months into the FLL season, we invite our mentorees back to Wheeler for a practice tournament. These scrimmages allow them to work with and around other teams and test their robots. Between the workshop and the tournament, many of our members continue to mentor these teams, helping them throughout the design and build process.
